CineMatch ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we may collect:

• Email address
• Username/display name
• Profile photo (if provided)
• Authentication information from Sign in with Apple or other providers

User Content and Event Coordination

To operate our cinema logistics, Crew discovery, and messaging features, we may collect:

• Movie preferences, favorite genres, and showtime selections
• Theater preferences and local venue interactions
• Messages and content shared in Crew Chats and Buddy Sessions
• Event history and group participation records
• Reactions, invites, and in-app interactions
• Activity timestamps

Usage and Diagnostics

We may collect limited technical information such as device type, operating system, app version, crash logs, performance data, and push notification tokens. This helps us maintain stability and improve performance.

Location (if you allow it)

If you grant permission, we may use your location to suggest nearby theaters, local showtimes, and nearby Crews. You can revoke location access in your device settings.

3. Tracking, Analytics, and App Tracking Transparency

We use only non-tracking analytics to measure app performance and improve the experience. We do not use Device IDs to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, and we do not use third-party targeted advertising or retargeting.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Face Data and Biometrics

We do not collect, process, retain, or share any biometric face data, facial geometry, or facial recognition maps. While you may upload a standard profile photo to identify yourself to your Crews, these images are treated strictly as standard image files.

We do not use facial detection algorithms to verify identity or analyze your photos, and we do not share any photo data with third-party data brokers.

5. How We Share Information

We use trusted service providers who process data on our behalf, such as Supabase (database/back-end infrastructure), authentication providers, push notification providers, and analytics providers. Information is shared only as needed to provide the service and as described in this policy.

6. User-Generated Content Safety

• CineMatch allows user-generated content (profiles, photos, and messages).
• We have a zero-tolerance approach to objectionable content and harmful behavior.
• Users can report and block other users or Crews. We review and act on reports in a timely manner, including removing content and/or suspending accounts that violate our Terms or community standards.

7. Data Retention

We retain account and interaction data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable timeframe unless retention is required by law.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or withdraw consent for your personal data.

9. Data Security

We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

10. Age Requirement

CineMatch is intended for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
